China, you're a player hater.

China is hatin' on the Ugly and the poor. Bastards.

A matchmaking love boat cruise open only to male millionaires and "good-looking and desirable" women is slated to set sail later this month, a state-run Chinese newspaper said Tuesday.

Men on the cruise scheduled to go along Shanghai's Huangpu River must be worth at least 2 million yuan ($250,000), the China Daily quoted organizer Xu Tianli as saying.

More than 20 men had signed up for the Nov. 25 cruise. Fewer than 30 of the 1,000 woman who applied were accepted.

Only those who were attractive in every category can take part in this event
Xu said, without giving the specific criteria interested female applicants .

OKAY! So:
#1. Why so they men have to have money and not the women?

Does that not play into stereotypes of women are only after money (aka women are Golddiggers)

#2. Is $250,000 really that much money?

In the US no, but in China that means you must live comfortably.

#3. How do you define beauty for women?

Since beauty varies according to each individual person, what is the criteria of beauty? If they are gonig to be picky, there is not going to be enough women on the cruise, or what if the kind of women on the cruise, are not the women the rich men want?

Horrid. Not only is this discriminate againt the poor and the ugly/ slightly over weight, it also discriminates against the young and the old (Since there are less younger established men, and few 'beautiful' older women). This cruise is wrong on so many levels. It would be less controversal if they had just set a high ticket price to get teh desired target market, instead they set critera in which they are unable to set standards for. China, you hater.

Different countries, different values. To be hired by Singapore Airlines -- in any capacity -- you must not only be attractive, but polite, gracious, friendly, and must speak (I think it is) at least three languages.

is this really any different then america's popular shows "the bachalor"? Or "who wants to marry a millionare", just to mention a few.

Well come on! We as a society have been vain forever! Why is it any different when a different country does the same thing? I feel sad women would put themselves in that situation, but really Its about the all-mighty dollar and everyone knows that makes the world go round!
